Settlement reached for conveyor belt worker who contacted Thompsons NI

Thompsons NI Solicitors has secured a compensation settlement for a conveyor belt worker injured in an accident at work.

The accident at work

The worker was removing machine parts from a conveyor belt onto pallets, when he tripped over electricity cables which had been left lying across the floor.  The machine parts were large which made the cables difficult to see.

The worker suffered a significant injury to his shoulder. Our personal injury specialists, based in Belfast, instructed an independent consultant orthopaedic surgeon to examine the client and to write a medical report.

The shoulder injury left the employee unable to participate in his hobbies for a period of time.

The case against the employer

Thompsons NI argued that employers have a duty of care to provide a safe working environment for their employees. As the company failed to ensure the cables were placed in such a way so as not to present a tripping hazard, the accident was caused by breach of this duty.
