Thompsons NI secures compensation for USDAW member and her family

The personal injury team at Thompsons NI has successfully helped to secure over £25,000 for an USDAW member and her family following a road traffic accident that occurred earlier this year.

The USDAW member was a passenger in her son’s car along with her other two children. The family was travelling along a country road when the car in front of them suddenly braked. This resulted in our client, who was driving, having to take affirmative action and swerve onto the kerb. After doing this, a delivery van smashed into the rear of the vehicle, causing considerable damage. The force of the impact resulted in all four family members suffering from whiplash, and requiring treatment at their local GP surgery. Following an initial consultation, we arranged for all four clients to be medically examined by a consultant orthopaedic surgeon.

Initially, the defendant was proving difficult to deal with and was at first reluctant to accept liability. After threatening to issue court proceedings, the defendant agreed to enter into negotiations.
